AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORIC SITES & PROFESSIONAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITY
A Customized 5-Day Learning Experience
The South Carolina Council for African American Studies (SCCAAS) specializes in designing and facilitating immersive, place-based learning experiences that connect history, culture, education, and community.
SCCAAS can work with school districts, individual schools, colleges and universities, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and other groups to design a customized five-day professional learning experience around African American history and historic sites.

Through partnerships with organizations such as the Institute for the Study of Reconstruction Era (ISRE) at USC-Beaufort, SCCAAS develops experiences that combine field study, historical interpretation, professional learning, collaborative inquiry, and hands-on resource development.

Your Organization. Your Focus. Your Experience.
Whether the goal is to strengthen educators’ understanding of African American history, build organizational knowledge, support diversity and inclusion initiatives, develop educational resources, or create a meaningful team learning experience, SCCAAS can design a five-day experience tailored to your organization.

The experience can be developed for 10 participants or an entire organization and can be adapted for educators, administrators, corporate teams, nonprofit professionals, community organizations, or other interested groups.
